Attached you will find a simplified document that describes and highlights the District Goals and Board Priorities for the 2013-14 school year.  The District's Vision and Pathways are also noted on this document, which guide the outstanding instruction in each and every classroom in our district.  The Board has approved and adopted this document which is designed to highlight the three major areas of specific focus for the upcoming school year.

1.  The first goal area focuses upon the continued shift from the current instruction toward the California Standards to the California Common Core State Standards (CCCSS) which include a national effort to move students to a college and career-readiness set of skills.  These CCCSS enable our students and staff to delve more deeply into demonstration of knowledge and skill development, with enhanced opportunities to demonstrate their depth of knowledge through technological responses to assessment.  Professional training for our outstanding staff will be a major focus for the year, as well as enhanced instruction in all classrooms to ensure that students are prepared to meet the challenges presented by the CCCSS.

2.  The second goal focuses upon the essential PARTNERSHIPS that are necessary to ensure that our students have opportunities within our TK-8th grade programs that will allow them to have all options available to them as they pursue their secondary and post-secondary career and college pursuits.  These important relationships and partnerships will provide our students with real-life experiences designed to enhance their opportunities for their future successes.

3.  The third goal highlights our district's ongoing commitment to SAFETY for all students, staff and community members. We will continue to remain committed to ensuring that our campuses have updated plans for proactively anticipating any safety issues, emergency response plans in place and many opportunities for students to receive instruction in safety issues. Additionally, this goal highlights the need for our students to develop positive health, wellness, social and emotional healthy habits as well as resiliency skills to enable them to make appropriate choices.  Our School Site Councils at each of our sites will be working together to develop both the Single School Plans for Student Achievement and the Comprehensive School Safety Plans which will incorporate these adopted District Goals and Board Priorities as a focus for the 2013-14 school year.

We have developed a more comprehensive document which will be available on our district website should you wish to further examine the District Goals and Board Priorities in more detailed form. The document that is attached provides an overview of the plans for the upcoming school year.
