EUSD High Test Scores

Academic Achievement
The Eureka schools have long been a leader - statewide - in student performance.  We are proud that our school district holds the highest API score in the greater Sacramento region.  Our students continue to eclipse Federal and State academic achievement targets.  Our district average API score is 907 with 1000 being the maximum score possible.  Detailed API reports may be found at www.cde.ca.gov . Our Challenge 21 program prepares our students for the dynamic and globally competitive environment in which they will live and work.  The components of the program are infused into the daily curriculum in the classrooms as well as the culture of each school.  Components include critical thinking, life and character skills, information, media and technology skills, creativity and innovation.  Find out more by clicking the Challenge 21 link or visiting the Challenge 21 section of our website.

The EUSD has a strong commitment to creating ready and inspired global citizens that are prepared for college, the workforce and beyond.  Our College and Career Readiness curriculum combined with our Challenge 21 program offers our students an education that teaches them to become life-long learners who are skilled at collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.

Small Class Sizes and Quality Instruction
In spite of State funding challenges, our district has found a way to maintain amongst the lowest class sizes in the region.  Our rigorous curriculum, quality instruction, and caring teachers create an academically challenging program for all students.  The core of Eureka’s success rests with an uncompromising attention to prepare our students for study at Granite Bay High School and then university level programs.  Our teachers provide challenging and engaging lessons while closely monitoring and supporting student progress.  Our teachers actively participate in professional development training, always striving to be the best in their field.  The Eureka Union School District offers several engaging programs and enrichment opportunities including, an extended day kindergarten program, classrooms outfitted with the latest technology, after-school Spanish at all schools, and many other enrichment programs through STAR.

Innovation/Technology
Engaging students in active learning involves the basics and beyond.  Through our Challenge 21 program, we have developed 21st Century classrooms where students seek real-world solutions to real-world situations.  They are provided opportunities to develop important life skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration.  Interactive whiteboards, voice enhancement systems, digital cameras, student response devices, and laptop computers provide interactive access to a high-tech world of information.  Innovation can be found in students engineering bridge spans, propagating seeds, reenacting scenes and figures from history, building robots, and video conferencing with learners in other parts of the country.  Our students are preparing for the future and global environment in which they will live and work—today!

Community and Parent Support
“Working together for excellence” creates a partnership shared between our students, teachers, parents and community.  Active School Site Councils are made up of parents and staff dedicated to school improvement.  Our Eureka Schools Foundation generously gives each year to support classroom technology, staff, and enrichment programs for students.  Strong Parent Teacher Clubs encourage local involvement and school community support. Daily classroom volunteering by our supportive parents provides a “value added” to our schools and students.  Before and after school care and programs provide engaging opportunities for students to collaborate, learn and succeed.
