Welcome to the Eureka Union School District (EUSD) 2012-2013 School Year |
| | It is that time of year that parents consider which school district their child will attend. The Eureka Union School District has streamlined the kindergarten registration process this year and made it faster and easier to enroll your child. Please contact Oakhills, Greenhills or Maidu for more information about our K-3 schools. Go to Schools at www.eureka-usd.k12.ca.us. In answer to the question “Why would I want to consider sending my child to Eureka schools?” we would like to share some positive aspects of our school district.
Academic Achievement The Eureka schools have long been a leader – statewide – in student performance. We are proud that our school district holds the highest API score in all of Placer County. Our students continue to eclipse Federal and State academic achievement targets. Our district average API score is almost 900 with 1000 being the maximum score possible. Detailed API reports may be found at www.cde.ca.gov .
Small Class Sizes and Quality Instruction In spite of State funding challenges, our district has found a way to maintain amongst the lowest class sizes in the region. Our rigorous curriculum, quality instruction, and caring teachers create an academically challenging program for all students. The core of Eureka’s success rests with an uncompromising attention to prepare our students for study at Granite Bay High School and then university level programs. Our teachers provide challenging and engaging lessons while closely monitoring and supporting student progress. Our teachers actively participate in professional development training, always striving to be the best in their field. The Eureka Union School District offers an extended day kindergarten program, 21st Century classrooms outfitted with the latest technology, after-school Spanish at all schools, and a commitment to small class sizes.
Innovation/Technology Engaging students in active learning involves more than simply “hitting the books.” Through our Challenge 21 program, we have developed 21st Century classrooms where students seek real-world solutions to real-world situations. Interactive whiteboards, voice enhancement systems, digital cameras, student response devices, laptop computers and more provide interactive access to a high-tech world of information. Innovation can be found in students engineering bridge spans, propagating seeds, reenacting scenes and figures from history, building robots, and video conferencing with learners in other parts of the country. Our students are preparing for the future—today!
Community Support “Working together for excellence” creates a partnership shared between our students, teachers, parents and community. Active School Site Councils are made up of parents and staff dedicated to school improvement. Our Eureka Schools Foundation generously gives to support classroom technology, staff, and enrichment programs for students. Strong Parent Teacher Clubs encourage local involvement and school community support. Daily classroom volunteering by our supportive parents provides a “value added” to our schools.
Eureka Union is a destination school district for families seeking safe, community-oriented schools where standards of excellence provide the foundation for student success. Our schools have a tradition of outstanding instruction and student performance, leading edge innovation and technology, and tremendous community support. We are looking forward to forming a partnership with you so that we may provide your student with the best possible educational experience. |
