Greenhills Spirit Song

(sung to the tune of the Notre Dame fight song)

Hurray for Greenhills we all agree,

It’s a great place for kids to be!

We always try to do what’s right,

To be respectful and polite!

Working and playing hard every day,

We know we’re growing better each way!

Greenhills Cubs co-operate,

And that’s how we know that we are great!

Hurray for Greenhills we all agree,

It is a great place for kids to be!

Hold your head up high and say,

Greenhills, Hip, Hip, Hooray!

Thanks for your generosity!

In January, children brought home boxes and were encouraged to "Make a Change for NF".  NF is the abbreviation for Neurofibromatosis.  NF is a disorder that affects 1 in every 300 people around the world and can cause tumors to grown on nervesthroughout the body and lead to serious health issues.

We could not be more proud of our cubs! Their efforts and determination to collect money brought in over $2000!!  Thank you to our students, teachers, parents and everyone else who had a part in collecting and donating to NF.

The Children's Tumor Foundation sent us this beautiful banner to recognize our efforts.  Mr. Towne presented it to Greenhills school at a Monday Morning Assembly.

What's in a

school lunch?

While it is easy for a parent to navigate our monthly menu entree choices, often parents have no idea what's in our fresh garden bar.

On a daily basis we stock a beautiful and nutritious display of fruits and vegetables from which our hot lunch participants can fill their plates.  We serve a rotation of strawberries, bananas, raspberries, kiwis, edamame, cauliflower, broccoli, locally grown mandarins, and more!  These healthy offerings provide the students with high quality eating experiences in a school lunch.

Servers Nancy and Linda spend time decorating the serving area with seasonal displays as well as working hard to know each child by name.  We are glad to have them on our campus and our kids benefit from their hard work and dedication.

Dear Principal Towne,

On behalf of California Business for Education Excellence, I write to congratulate you on the outstanding success your school has made in raising student academic achievement.  After an extensive analysis of student achievement data for every public school in California, your school stood well above the rest in getting your students to grade level proficiency and beyond.

It is for that reason we have named you a California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll School.

The list of Honor Roll schools continues to grow thanks to the hard work and effective practices of thousands of excellent principals, teachers and support personnel in our public schools.

This is a testament to the relentless focus on results for students that you, your staff and your peers have shown over the years.  It is also a strong statement about how success is spreading in public schools across the state.

Our heartfelt congratulations and thank you for a job well done.  We look forward to telling your story and promoting your success.

James S. Lanich, Ph.D.
