Cavitt JHS a school focused on Science, Technology and College Readiness Dear Families, We are proud and excited about our Science, Technology, Engineering and College and Career Readiness focus. As a staff we are committed to providing an exceptional educational experience that will ready your child(ren) for the 21st Century. We know that the courses we are offering and our expectations will ensure that graduates are ready for high school and beyond. We know that our students will be competing on a world stage that is more connected and challenging every day. We understand our responsibility to ensure that students are prepared for success in the global world; being able to effectively communicate ideas, analyze & interpret data quickly and correctly, utilize technology while working within a team as an individual are just a few of the skills we believe students will need to successfully master. These practices and the use of technology and media are integrated into core curriculum as best practices as defined by the 21st Century Partnership model and our district's Challenge 21 program. We are fortunate enough to be able to offer a wide variety of enrichment courses (i.e.: art, life skills, media, digital art, meteorology) which allows us the opportunity to incorporate additional 21st Century Skill experiences into our students’ day. STEM Elective News! Cavitt is so excited about the experiences our STEM kids had last year in class...have you ever wondered what our kids experienced?
Our STEM Sci Tech (8th grade) students worked with Lego Mindstorms (Robotics), Balsa Towers (Engineering), doing Environmental Chemistry and in Rocketry (Astronomy).
Check out the video, by clicking below, of our Sci Tech kids working with 2nd and 3rd graders from Maidu and Oakhills! Our 8th graders loved this opportunity to share their robots! There is also a new video of our students with their robots under Mr. Pozzi's website . CHECK IT OUT!
We added a STEM 7th grade elective this year! Sci Challenge 21 is focused on Forensics, Comparative Anatomy and a Multimedia Challenge 21 Body Systems project! A video will soon be available for this new class, check back!
All extended learning in the STEM electives are related to core instruction in the grade-level curriculum. The extended learning time allows the teachers to enhance and deepen students knowledge by providing more hands-on learning experiences and encourages students natural scientific curiosity! |
