Congratulations to All Oakhills Students!

2013 API - 948

Oakhills Elementary, home of the Coyotes, is a TK- 3 grade school site that currently serves 487 students. Through Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and Response to Intervention (RTI), our staff continually strives to meet the needs of individual students within the classroom and through intervention services. We look to provide best educational practices to engage our students in a rigorous curriculum and support life long learning skills through our Challenge 21 curriculum. As a school site we foster the development of a positive school climate through our “Character Counts” program and through our positive recognition program “Caught Being Goods”. Our goal is to promote the development of our students academically, socially, and emotionally.  Our students and staff have actively embraced the culture of Oakhills Elementary and as a result we have witnessed sustainable achievement of our student population, as evidenced by our API score of 948 for the 2012-13 school year. As a staff, we will continue to work collaboratively to analyze multiple forms of student achievement data to establish support systems that will foster the continued growth of all students. In order to maintain sustainable growth into the future years, we are actively engaged in the development of a rigorous and relevant curriculum that will be in alignment with upcoming California Common Core State Standards (CCCSS).

Oakhills recognized by CBEE for "Prestigious Honor Roll"

The Eureka Union School District is very proud to announce that Oakhills Elementary has been selected by California Business for Educational Excellence (CBEE) as 1 of 2,099 public schools in California to receive the title of 2013 Honor Roll School.

Schools receiving this distinction from the California business community have demonstrated consistent high levels of student achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time and reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.

Oakhills has met the success factors in higher performing Honor Roll schools and districts, as identified by the CBEE. These factors include: ongoing collaboration among teachers to improve practice, targeted use of data to pinpoint challenges and monitor progress, continual intervention for struggling students, and mastery of content knowledge and pedagogical practices.

Congratulations to our well deserving students, parents, staff and community partners for this outstanding recognition.
